Our red light therapy in Lima, OH, can support the body’s natural repair processes by stimulating cellular activity. It can help reduce inflammation, improve circulation and support tissue recovery. This technology can be applied to many areas of the body to address concerns related to pain, skin health and muscle stiffness.

At Aesthetic Care Center, we use Celluma treatments to offer red, blue and near-infrared light therapy. Celluma can be placed over the face or body to help with skin clarity, signs of aging or discomfort from muscle tension. The treatment is noninvasive and requires no downtime.

What Is Celluma Light Therapy?

Celluma is a flexible, low-level light therapy device that uses specific wavelengths to stimulate cellular activity.

Its lightweight panel contours easily to the face or body, allowing for close and consistent light exposure.

We use it to deliver red, blue or near-infrared light, depending on the depth of tissue we want to target.

How Does Celluma Work?

Celluma light therapy starts by emitting particles of light, known as photons, which interact with your skin and underlying tissue. Your cells absorb this light through specialized receptors in the mitochondria, where the energy is converted into ATP, the fuel your cells use to function. As ATP production increases, cells become more efficient at repairing damage and supporting regeneration. This process helps improve overall cellular performance, which leads to a range of therapeutic effects throughout the treated area.

What Concerns Can Celluma Address?

01 /
Acne

Acne develops when oil, dead skin cells and bacteria build up inside the pores. Hormones, stress and certain products can make it worse or cause regular breakouts that are difficult to control with topical products. One of the benefits of red light therapy is its ability to calm inflammation and support healing without irritating the skin. Blue light can also help by targeting acne-causing bacteria on the surface.

02 /
Aging Skin

With consistent use, Celluma can support smoother, firmer skin. Fine lines and wrinkles form as collagen production slows and skin loses elasticity. Sun exposure, genetics and lifestyle habits all contribute to this process. Red and near-infrared light can encourage the skin to renew itself more efficiently by stimulating cellular repair and increasing circulation.

03 /
Dull, Dehydrated or Inflamed Skin

Skin may start to look tired or uneven when the barrier becomes damaged or when blood flow to the skin is reduced. Irritants, environmental stress and dehydration can all contribute. Celluma restores balance by improving circulation and encouraging the skin to absorb nutrients more effectively. Red light also has a calming effect, which can reduce visible redness and irritation.

04 /
Muscle and Joint Pain

Tight muscles and aching joints often stem from overuse, inflammation or minor injuries. Red and near-infrared light reach deeper into the tissue to help increase circulation and support cellular repair. Using a red light face mask or panel over sore areas can promote comfort, and the treatment can be relaxing as well as therapeutic.

05 /
Hair Restoration

Hair thinning can occur due to genetics, stress, hormonal changes or poor circulation around the hair follicle. Light therapy helps improve blood flow to the scalp and may extend the growth phase of the hair cycle. It works best when used consistently and as part of a broader treatment plan.

06 /
Body Contouring

Celluma can also support noninvasive body contouring by using red and near-infrared light to reach the subcutaneous fat layer. The light energy activates fat cells and prompts them to release their contents through temporary openings in the cell membrane. Your body then metabolizes those lipids naturally, which can lead to a slimmer appearance in the treated area. While it is not a replacement for weight loss, light therapy can help refine stubborn areas.

Am I a Good Candidate for Celluma?

Most patients can safely use Celluma, whether the goal is to improve skin quality, ease discomfort or support recovery. You may be a good fit if you want a noninvasive option that works gradually with your body’s repair processes. A red light therapy mask or panel can be used alone or alongside other treatments, depending on your needs. Patients who have light sensitivity, are taking certain medications or have active skin infections may need to avoid light therapy, so we always review your health history first.

What Happens During a Celluma Session?

01 /
Preparation

We begin by identifying the area you want to treat and making sure the skin is clean. You will not need numbing or any special products beforehand. We ask you to remove any makeup, lotion or sunscreen so the light can reach the tissue properly. Once the skin is clear, we position the Celluma panel close to the surface.

02 /
Treatment

The Celluma device emits low-level light for about 20 to 30 minutes, depending on your treatment plan. You may feel gentle warmth, but the treatment does not cause pain or irritation. We often recommend sitting or reclining in a comfortable position while the light works. You can close your eyes and relax or even listen to music during the session.

03 /
Post-Treatment

Once the session ends, we remove the panel and examine the treated area. You can return to your usual routine right away since there is no downtime. The skin may look slightly pink for a few minutes, but you will likely also feel relaxed and notice that your skin feels calm or refreshed.

04 /
Recovery and Aftercare

You do not need any special recovery steps after a Celluma session. We recommend keeping your skin moisturized and protected from sun exposure. Some patients combine light therapy with other treatments, and we will let you know how to space those appointments. Regular sessions often lead to the best results, especially for ongoing concerns like skin aging or muscle tension.

05 /
When Will I See the Results of Celluma?

Some patients notice subtle changes after just one session, especially when treating inflammation or skin irritation. Most results develop gradually as the light stimulates cellular activity over time. For long-term goals like acne, aging skin or joint pain, we usually recommend multiple sessions per week for several weeks. Consistent use of red lamp therapy helps build up results and maintain them over time.

Combining Celluma With Other Treatments

We often pair Celluma light therapy with other treatments to support healing, reduce inflammation or improve treatment outcomes.

  • Skin Resurfacing Treatments: We use Celluma after treatments like laser resurfacing, microneedling or AviClear® for acne to help calm the skin and speed up recovery. Red light can reduce post-treatment redness and support tissue repair without interfering with your results.
  • Injectables: Pairing Celluma with neuromodulators like Botox® or Daxxify® can help promote skin health between injectable appointments. Light therapy supports collagen production and improves circulation, which helps the skin respond better.
  • Body Contouring: We sometimes combine Celluma with truSculpt® body sculpting to support fat metabolism and reduce post-treatment soreness. Red and near-infrared light can help the body process released fat and improve comfort in treated areas.
